Water the plants. Feed the invisible pets. And, whatever happens, do not turn off the lights. That’s the unsettling job description at the heart of a pet shop after dark, the experimental horror point-and-click adventure from developer npckc. Publisher Viridian Software has confirmed that the game arrives on Nintendo Switch (also playable on Switch 2), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 12 November 2026.
A deceptively simple night shift
What begins as a routine pet shop job gradually unfolds into a stranger experience. Players investigate the premises, care for peculiar plants, feed creatures they cannot see and solve puzzles that push beyond a conventional point-and-click interface.
The game is particularly known for experimenting with its apparent computer environment. The creators make an unusual but important note about the experience: some crashes are intentional, part of the design rather than necessarily a fault with the software.
How does the desktop concept work on consoles?
The console versions have adapted those interactions through an in-game virtual desktop. The announcement also confirms additional diary entries and pieces of lore, giving returning players some new story details rather than simply offering a direct copy of the existing PC edition.
Developer npckc has described those additions as an opportunity for people who already know the original to discover a little more of its world. Precisely how the interface feels using a controller will have to wait for hands-on testing.
When and where can you play?
The console launch is scheduled for 12 November 2026 on Switch (with Switch 2 compatibility), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The press release gives a US price of $9.99, but does not confirm an equivalent UK price, so we’ll avoid converting that into an invented local storefront figure.
The existing PC edition is already available. The publisher also provides direct listings on Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation; platform availability and regional prices may differ. The announcement follows its recognition at BIG Festival, where it earned a WINGS Spotlight and was an Innovation Award finalist.
