This privacy notice explains how Coloured Static Press handles personal information when people read our website, contact us, or communicate with us about editorial coverage. For any privacy enquiry, email info@colouredstaticpress.com.

Who runs this website?
Coloured Static Press is an independent UK-based games and technology publication at colouredstaticpress.com. Coloured Static Press is operated by Andrew Bandy, who is responsible for personal information handled through this publication. For privacy questions, contact info@colouredstaticpress.com.
What personal information do we receive?
When you contact us by email or send an editorial pitch, we may receive your name, email address, studio or business name, game details, relevant links, and the contents of your message. Our website, hosting provider and security services may process technical data such as IP addresses, browser information, access times and security events. Our website statistics service collects information about visits and referral sources. If you choose to subscribe to updates in future, a subscription service may process your email address and preferences. Please do not email us sensitive personal information or confidential materials unless we have agreed appropriate arrangements.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use the information to respond to enquiries, assess editorial pitches, arrange possible coverage or partnerships, maintain necessary records, understand how the publication is used, and protect the website. We normally rely on our legitimate interests in operating an independent publication for routine editorial and business correspondence and proportionate security measures. Some processing may be necessary to take steps towards or fulfil an agreement. Where consent is required, including for some marketing communications or technologies, we will request it separately. Sending us a press enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Who processes or receives the information?
Coloured Static Press uses IONOS hosting and WordPress. Jetpack, provided by Automattic, is enabled for site statistics, protection and other WordPress services. Our email and hosting providers may process correspondence and technical information needed to operate and secure the publication; normal backups may also contain some records. An indie-game submission form has been prepared but is not currently published. If we activate it, this notice will be updated to explain how submissions are collected and handled. Providers may process information internationally; where restricted international transfers occur, appropriate protections must apply. For additional information about particular providers or transfers, contact us at the address above. See Automattic’s visitor privacy notice for its services.
How long we keep it
For unsuccessful editorial pitches and routine enquiries that lead to no ongoing relationship, our retention standard is up to 12 months after the last substantive communication, followed by deletion unless a particular legal or editorial reason makes longer retention necessary. Active editorial, contractual and business correspondence may be retained while relevant and is reviewed periodically. Technical logs, aggregated statistics and backup copies follow the applicable provider’s retention arrangements; records removed from active systems may remain temporarily in ordinary backups. You can request deletion or ask why information is being kept by contacting us. This standard requires regular review of our stored correspondence and records.
Cookies, analytics and external content
WordPress, IONOS and security services may use essential cookies or similar technologies for administration, functionality and protection. Jetpack Stats is enabled to measure visits, popular content, referrals and broad visitor information. Automattic may process technical information and use cookies or pixel technologies as described in its cookie policy. Embedded third-party content, such as videos, may contact external services and apply their own policies. Clicking a retailer or affiliate link takes you to another website with its own privacy and cookie practices. You can adjust cookie controls in your browser and contact us about privacy choices. We will review any analytics or external tracking against applicable consent and objection requirements as the site develops; this notice is not a claim that every third-party cookie is essential.
Your rights
Under applicable UK data protection law, you may have rights to access personal information about you, correct inaccurate information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain uses or ask for a copy of your data, depending on the circumstances. Contact info@colouredstaticpress.com with your request. You can also raise a concern with the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

We’ll update this page if our collection practices, services or retention arrangements materially change. The published notice will include an updated effective date.
