7 GAMES WORTH TRACKING
Released, launching and upcoming independent-studio games. These entries are a dated, evidence-linked discovery board, not an invented Top 10. The numerical momentum index will begin when comparable week-on-week data has been captured.
Car Park Capital
An unusual car-park-building satire has started strongly on Steam, with an exceptionally positive early customer response. An interesting idea that deserves proper hands-on follow-up.
Silver Pines
A hand-drawn survival-horror metroidvania with a substantial, positive early Steam review base. The atmosphere and structure make it a strong discovery candidate.
Deep Dish Dungeon
A small-studio dungeon adventure built around exploring, crafting and learning by doing, with a recent PC and Xbox launch. Its puzzle-led approach is worth investigating.
Nivalis Nights
Cyberpunk shopkeeping, social systems and city life give this an unusual mix of genres. Steam now shows thousands of reviews, though that measures player response, not chart momentum.
over the hill
Independent developers explore an off-road driving game that values atmosphere and discovery. Steam lists 14 October as its planned launch date, so availability should be checked live.
Beyond These Stars
A city builder on the back of a travelling space whale is a premise worth watching. The independent studio confirms a 16 October release in North American time zones.
Scam With Your Friends
An absurd co-operative call-centre simulation built around conversations with fictional AI callers. A curiosity rather than a recommendation until the Early Access build is tested.
More discovery. Less noise.
MOMENTUM
Not just the biggest
Our first public edition links directly to observed release and engagement evidence. Future ranked editions will examine acceleration and multiple independent signals rather than simply rewarding the most famous releases.
ELIGIBILITY
Independence matters
Studio ownership and creative control are examined; appearing in an ‘indie’ category alone does not guarantee eligibility.
EDITORIAL FIREWALL
Separate recommendations
Our writers can spotlight interesting games, but recommendations never alter their calculated chart placement.
The rules we’re testing.
Released games, Early Access titles and upcoming playable demos can have very different kinds of observable engagement. We will not compare incompatible figures as though they represented the same activity.
Before the inaugural edition, we’ll publish an eligibility window, treatment of returning games, source coverage, minimum evidence threshold and ranking methodology. Later material changes will carry a version note.
Each entry will include a clear reason for its inclusion, the sources behind it and its movement against the prior verified snapshot.
