COLOURED STATIC PRESS / HANDS-ON REVIEWTESTED: XBOX SERIES X|SFMV COMEDY84 / 100
84/100
One decision sends you on a date. Another gets you killed. Somehow, both can be hilarious. Love: Fall in Death is a full-motion-video romantic comedy built around branching choices, ridiculous encounters and a very strong temptation to go back and see what could have happened differently.
Tested on Xbox Series X|S. An exceptionally entertaining FMV comedy with ridiculous detours, expressive performances and branching endings that reward replaying scenes. This review reflects original hands-on play impressions, supported by supplied in-game screenshots.
The joke is often in the choice
The central pleasure is not simply seeing how a romance develops. It is discovering how unexpectedly a decision can send the story in an entirely new direction. A heated encounter with a group of men catcalling a woman might become a confrontation, while another route can lead to an apartment visit and a wonderfully absurd sequence involving spilled glass, a giant broom, a tiny dustpan and a bucket.
These bizarre situations work because the performers fully commit to them. The acting can be charming one minute and wonderfully over-the-top the next, matching the game’s willingness to be silly without losing the warmth of its central relationship.

Death is sometimes just another punchline
One early choice during the contributor’s playthrough led the protagonist to an apparent death. Rather than a flat game-over screen, he found himself in an entirely white space, assuming he had reached heaven. A narrator-like voice promptly made it clear that his choices had been spectacularly foolish and sent him back to try again.
That is a particularly effective illustration of the game’s tone. Even a bad ending can feel like part of the entertainment rather than a punishment. It encourages experimentation instead of making players fearful of getting everything right the first time.

Fifteen minutes can lead to a much bigger story
On the first run, the reviewer reached an ending in roughly fifteen minutes. A short playthrough might have made the experience seem slight, but replaying individual scenes with alternative choices revealed very different routes, characters and situations. One later path introduced a vampire hunter and opened a new sequence of comic events.
Being able to return to a particular scene and choose differently is the crucial quality-of-life feature here. The branching routes do more than change an occasional line of dialogue. They can introduce entirely new encounters, which gives the FMV format genuine replay appeal.

A romance that depends on you
The relationship between the two leads also shifts depending on the player’s decisions. The chemistry, comic misunderstandings and unpredictable consequences are all part of the appeal. Those looking for a conventional romance may be surprised by how cheerfully the game veers into absurd territory.
Its biggest strength is that it knows exactly what kind of experience it wants to be: a playful, interactive comedy where both successful and disastrous decisions can be worth following. The source review records no significant personal frustrations, although someone seeking more traditional mechanical depth may prefer a different kind of game.
The verdict
Love: Fall in Death is a charming and frequently ridiculous FMV comedy with spirited performances and a branching structure that rewards curiosity. Its shortest routes might seem brief in isolation, yet the alternative scenes and endings invite players to keep experimenting. As a way to spend an evening laughing at a hilariously written script and never knowing what outrageous turn will come next, it is a no-brainer. Its branching scenes make the fun of discovering what happens next just as rewarding as reaching an ending.
Delightfully unpredictable performances, playful branching scenes and hilariously wrong decisions make this an easy recommendation for FMV comedy fans. Short individual routes are offset by the pleasure of discovering what else might happen.
