FIRST SIGNAL / PUBLIC FREE DEMO / 3V3 MULTIPLAYER ARENA
Most arena games ask you to react quickly. Paper Strike adds another challenge: drawing the right rune while the opposing team is closing in. The upcoming multiplayer game from PAPER STRIKE turns spellcasting into a physical action, asking players to trace symbols in the middle of a fast-moving 3v3 match.
Spells you have to draw
According to founder Alexandre Hecquet, the central mechanic is rune drawing. Rather than selecting every ability from a conventional hotbar, players create spell effects by tracing symbols. It is an intriguing twist on the usual arena rhythm: positioning, teamwork and execution matter, but so does whether you can perform the gesture under pressure.

The studio’s genuine gameplay screenshots show an overhead arena with bold purple and warm-orange lighting, player characters positioned around an objective, and a large rune shape traced over the action. The images help explain the pitch without implying we have personally tested the demo. Whether the drawing system feels intuitive, readable and fair in the heat of a match is something only hands-on play can establish.
Three ways to compete
The developer describes a tutorial and three team modes in the public demo. A supplied Team Deathmatch screenshot shows the game’s competitive setup, while other original captures in the press kit are labelled Kristal Rush and King of the Hill. These modes suggest the studio is exploring more than straightforward eliminations, with teams also needing to respond to objectives and arena control.

For a small multiplayer project, the hardest question is often not whether the idea sounds entertaining, but whether the mechanics are immediately understandable to new players and deep enough to reward returning ones. Rune casting gives Paper Strike a distinctive identity, and the free demo offers an accessible way for players to find out whether that identity translates into satisfying matches.
Play the demo
Paper Strike’s official itch.io page lists a free Windows and macOS demo. The full game’s launch date has not been independently confirmed, so this is a pre-release First Signal discovery, not a review or a claim that the complete game is available.
