Some games invite us to rescue entire kingdoms. Cauldron Chaos: Brew Potions & Tidy Up offers a wonderfully different challenge: rescue an alchemy shop from a spell gone spectacularly wrong.

Created by developer Milan Peschl and published by Digital Pajamas, this cosy, physics-based fantasy sorting game sends players into a shop overflowing with wayward ingredients. Armed with magical wands, adorable animal characters must gather scattered objects, process ingredients, brew potions and steadily return the room to order.

From magical mess to organised bliss

The official fact sheet describes more than 1,000 ingredients and almost 200 distinct potion recipes. Ingredients can be levitated, tossed and processed at specialised stations before being brewed into elixirs and restored to their rightful places. With every shelf completed, the room gradually transforms from chaos into a welcoming workshop.

Four players, plenty of ways to cooperate

Up to four players can work together. Rather than imposing a single approach, the developers invite players to organise their own workflow: one person might collect ingredients, another process them, someone else manage brewing, and a fourth restore the shelves. Or everybody can simply dive into the magical mayhem. The physics-driven systems create room for experimentation alongside the tidying.

A personal project that grew

There’s an especially lovely story behind the game. Peschl explains in the supplied fact sheet that he originally built the experience for his girlfriend, a chemist who loves sorting games and fantasy. When she and her friends enjoyed the prototype, they encouraged him to release it for other players. What began as a personal gift became a full indie project.

A different flavour of Halloween

Although not a conventional horror game, Cauldron Chaos fits the season with its spellcasting, potions and magical clutter. It also adds some welcome variety to the five independent titles taking part in our Halloween Signal Drop, which features two game keys per title and ten separate winners.
