Fight monsters, fill your backpack, then get home in time to open the shop. Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault invites players into the double life of Will, a merchant and adventurer whose fortunes depend as much on his pricing decisions as on what he manages to bring back from the dungeon.

Every expedition is a business decision
Will heads into changing dungeons to battle enemies, collect materials and open chests packed with potentially valuable relics. Random encounters offer different improvements from run to run, so another expedition is rarely a simple repeat of the last.
Loot does not automatically equal profit. Relics can carry curses that interact with other items, turning collection into a puzzle of positioning, improving quality and figuring out how to return home with the best possible haul.
A shopkeeper’s balancing act
Returning to town switches the focus from combat to customer service. You set the prices of your relics and try to turn your expedition into cash. Charge too much, however, and customers may walk away. It is a clever tension: your ambition as an adventurer has to be matched by some restraint behind the counter.
Spend money to make money
The town’s vendors provide further reasons to keep exploring. Cash and dungeon materials can be invested in weapons, armour, potions and abilities, while furnishings and decorations allow you to develop the shop itself. In these early impressions, the appeal lies in how every part of the loop feeds the next.
Our early impression
There is an appealing breadth to Moonlighter 2: shifting dungeons, combat, unusual loot, pricing decisions and a steady stream of upgrades. The relationship between dangerous exploration and careful shop management gives the game a distinctive identity. These observations are promising, but the supplied hands-on account does not provide enough evidence to judge its long-term balance, full narrative or final challenge. We are therefore not assigning a score.
