Read our position ↓Bungie targets next week for Destiny 2 unvaulting update
Bungie is aiming to share its next update on the restoration of vaulted Destiny 2 content during the week beginning 26 October 2026. Head of Product Josh Deane indicated on 19 October that the team was looking to queue up the update the following week. This is a target for information, not a confirmed date for any campaign, raid or destination to return.
In September, Bungie committed to bringing previously vaulted campaigns, destinations and raids back into Destiny 2 for all players. The work involves more than re-enabling old files: the studio says older content needs changes to lighting, encounters, combatants and underlying systems to function properly in the current game.
Rather than publishing a conventional roadmap filled with dates, Deane has discussed a milestone-based approach, showing development progress and explaining obstacles before committing to release windows. As of 25 October, no specific restored activity or launch date has been confirmed.
For longtime Guardians, this could be a meaningful step towards restoring the history of Destiny 2. It is also an important test of Bungie’s promise to rebuild player trust through visible progress rather than announcements alone. We’ll update the Vanguard Archives when Bungie publishes the next official details.

A constant through every chapter
Years of praise. Years of criticism. One constant: Destiny.
Destiny has been a constant throughout our gaming careers, through countless adventures, unforgettable moments and all the changes we’ve seen in gaming over the years. We’ve praised its finest moments and criticised it when we felt it deserved better. Through every change, every high and every disappointment, Destiny has remained a constant in our gaming lives. The gunplay, raids, music, worlds and friendships are part of what makes the series special. But being a fan doesn’t mean defending every decision. This hub will celebrate Bungie’s achievements while asking serious questions about preservation, accessibility, player confidence and what comes next.
Independent coverage. Clear sourcing. An actual point of view.
