Steam Scream V Is Live: Horror Games and Indie Discoveries on Our Radar

Steam Next Fest has handed over to something darker. Steam Scream V runs from 26 October to 2 November 2026, bringing horror and Halloween-themed games into the spotlight. At Coloured Static Press, we’re using the week to revisit some of the indie horror projects we’ve already covered, discover new ones and hear directly from the people making them.

Horror games already on our radar

  • Netherwake – a horror demo built around the danger lurking in the fog.
  • JUBAKU – investigate a haunted house as a journalist in 1991 Japan.
  • EXCISA – an occult horror experience involving a séance, tarot and dice.
  • Just One Bite – a 1–4 player co-op horror demo with food that fights back.
  • The Green Light – read our full review of this atmospheric horror game, scored 80/100.

These are games we’ve covered editorially, not a claim that every title is officially participating in Steam Scream V. Check individual store pages for current demo availability, prices and event participation.

Indie horror developers: we want to hear from you

Launching a horror game? Showing a demo? Working on something strange, atmospheric or genuinely terrifying? Tell us about it. We’re looking for discoveries for First Signal, released games for Switchboard, and developers willing to share the story behind their work through our interviews.

Send us your game title, store page, trailer or screenshots, release or demo status, and a few words about what makes it special. Editorial coverage is independent and submissions do not guarantee publication.

We’ll be following Steam Scream V throughout the week and sharing the discoveries that catch our attention. Let the haunting begin.

Indie horror developers: The Scream Signal is open

Have a horror demo, a playable full release, an eerie experiment or a game with a story worth telling? We’re taking free indie submissions throughout Steam Scream V. Send us your Steam or official game link, the current demo/release status, approved screenshots or a press kit, and the detail that makes your game different. Selected projects may be considered for First Signal discovery, a developer interview or future livestream coverage. Editorial choices remain independent and coverage is never guaranteed.

Submit your indie horror game to CSPress · Explore The Scream Signal

Halloween, Saturday 31 October: We’re preparing a special CSPress Twitch livestream and The Signal Drop community giveaway. Watch the channel and our website for the confirmed stream time, featured games, eligibility and entry rules. Developers keen to be considered for a live first look can mention that in their submission.
