The most important move in Onward! Autobattles might happen before a battle starts. Its roguelike strategy is built around arranging an army, choosing combinations and watching the consequences unfold.

Build the right line-up

Players recruit units and decide where each belongs on the battlefield. Their abilities interact, making composition and positioning critical. Even moving a single fighter one square can change the outcome, according to the developer.

Win, adapt, repeat

Successful battles unlock more units and powerful artefacts, giving subsequent encounters a wider range of possible approaches. The battles themselves play out automatically, shifting the challenge away from reflexes and towards preparation and adaptation.

A demo to test the tactics

Dream Parable replied directly to Coloured Static Press to confirm Steam Next Fest participation and a free demo. The official Steam page also lists the demo. The full game is currently planned for 2026.
