Some indie games catch your attention with an elaborate combat system. Others do it with a single striking idea. Exista, from Laka Moon Studio, belongs to the latter group.
Responding to Coloured Static Press on X, the studio described Exista as the story of an alternative world formed by enormous rings suspended in the sky. Over centuries, those rings transformed into inhabited islands.
It’s an intriguing setting, and the footage shared by the developer offers a glimpse of a dark, minimalist world, with pale trees, platforms and small structures against a star-filled backdrop.
A world worth exploring
The unusual geography is the immediate draw here. The idea of communities inhabiting vast suspended rings raises plenty of questions about how the world works and what stories might unfold within it. For now, those are questions rather than confirmed gameplay details: the studio’s brief introduction does not establish the game’s genre, mechanics or release date.
Exista is another project that has reached us through The Switchboard, Coloured Static Press’s initiative for discovering independent games and the developers behind them.
