One of PC gaming’s most memorable cooperative success stories is about to reach a much wider audience. PEAK, the climbing adventure from Aggro Crab and Landfall, launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on 22 October 2026.
That makes this more than a PlayStation release story. With cross-platform multiplayer planned across the supported platforms, friends won’t necessarily need to own the same console to tackle the mountain together.
A mountain built for cooperation
PEAK asks a group of stranded nature scouts to climb a dangerous mountain in search of rescue. Up to four players must manage stamina, injuries, unpredictable obstacles and whatever food or equipment they can scavenge. It sounds straightforward until someone slips and the rest of the group has to decide how to help.
The game’s appeal is built around the moments that emerge when a plan collapses. Cooperation is central, but its mix of survival mechanics and unpredictable hazards creates plenty of potential for funny disasters along the way.
What console players will get
According to the official PlayStation announcement, the PS5 release includes the content updates, biomes and items introduced since PEAK’s original PC launch. Crossplay means groups can climb together across platforms. Developers have also announced console versions for Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on the same date.
A physical PS5 edition is planned separately, with a disc and an extra digital code for a friend among the announced contents. As always, check regional listings for pricing and availability rather than assuming one territory’s offer applies everywhere.
Why we are watching it
We spend a lot of time at Coloured Static Press looking for indie games that deserve attention. PEAK is a reminder of what can happen when a strong idea travels from PC communities to a wider audience without losing what made it interesting.
The move to three console families is particularly welcome. Console releases can introduce players to inventive smaller games they might never have encountered on Steam, and crossplay helps those audiences meet instead of separating them behind platform boundaries.
PEAK launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, 22 October. This is a launch news article, not a hands-on review; we’ll reserve a gameplay verdict until we have played the console release.
