There are plenty of games that ask you to build an empire, rescue a kingdom or race a clock. Hokko Spaces has a rather different request: arrange a small patch of the world until it feels right. The cosy sandbox from Wonderscope Games, published by Team17, is scheduled for 29 October 2026 on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
It’s set in the world of Hokko Life, but this time the emphasis is on creating miniature diorama-style scenes rather than managing a busy to-do list. It’s a straightforward proposition, and one that could appeal to players who enjoy the decorating as much as the objectives.

A little world, built your way
The idea is to place and arrange scenery, build peaceful spaces and welcome charming inhabitants. Characters can appear as you complete small, relaxed goals, then wander about and interact with the things you’ve created. Instead of demanding constant progress, the game seems interested in what happens when you stop to admire the result.
You can also change the time of day, weather and seasons. A cherry-blossom picnic feels rather different under an evening sky, and a sleepy woodland corner might take on a new character with winter frost. Those details make a lot of sense for a game built around atmosphere.
The camera could be the main event
There’s a dedicated photo mode with filters, framing and focus controls. That might sound like a modest extra, but here it seems central to the appeal. If you’ve spent half an hour arranging a miniature café or garden, being able to frame a proper photograph gives that time a satisfying purpose.
It’s also where Hokko Spaces begins to distinguish itself from the usual cosy-life formula. This looks less like a game about completing chores and more like an interactive set of creative tools. That distinction could be important for players who love furnishing their homes in simulation games but wish they’d leave the timer behind.

Release date and what to watch
Both the Steam listing and Nintendo’s store now show 29 October 2026. A demo is listed on Steam, which gives curious players a route to investigate the idea before the full launch.
The unanswered question is how much variety its tools and inhabitants will offer over time. A beautiful scene is one thing; a sandbox that keeps offering fresh reasons to return is another. We’ll judge that once we’ve spent proper time with the game.
