There are two dates for Gran Turismo fans to remember this October. The first has already passed: the free Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Part 1 update arrived in the UK on 15 October. The second is still ahead, with pre-orders for a 30th-anniversary limited-edition DualSense beginning on 22 October at 10am UK time.

Sony announced both in its 14 October PlayStation Blog update, pairing new racing content with a controller styled around the series’ long-running relationship with automotive design.

What’s in Spec IV Part 1?

The standout addition is Sportsland Sugo, giving the game’s circuit roster another real-world venue. Six vehicles are also joining the garage. The selection stretches from the futuristic Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo to the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta ’94, Honda Civic Si Group A version ’87, Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo ’26, Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line ’23 and Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston ’86.

That mix matters. One moment players can chase a lap time in a concept hypercar; the next they can take a very ordinary family vehicle to a circuit. Those contrasts have always been part of the series’ appeal, and the update gives them more room to breathe.

Sony also lists six World Circuit events, new Scapes locations, improvements to the Car Viewer and an Experience mode. The update is free for existing owners, although obtaining some cars in-game may require credits earned through play or purchased separately.

A limited edition with racing details

The new DualSense Wireless Controller, Gran Turismo Limited Edition, uses a white body with motorsport-inspired striping and a textured carbon-fibre-style central section. Rather than changing how the controller works, the appeal here is in the design and its connection to the series’ history.

Sony has set a recommended UK retail price of £74.99, with actual retailer prices subject to change. Pre-orders start on 22 October at 10am local time through PlayStation Direct in supported markets, including the UK, and participating retailers. Global release begins on 10 December 2026, with limited quantities.

Which announcement matters most?

If you’re already playing Gran Turismo 7, the new circuit and car selection are available now. If it’s the controller that interests you, the immediate decision is whether to reserve one when pre-orders open. Limited edition doesn’t automatically mean a better controller, of course, but this one is designed for collectors who want something more distinctive than the standard finish.
