Indie Spotlight | Steam Next Fest 2026
Some battles are won with fast reactions. Knightstones asks players to win before the fighting even begins. Developed by WillGreen Studio, this first-person roguelite auto-battler combines troop deployment, deckbuilding and resource management in a campaign to save a fallen Order.

Command from the war table
Players lead the Athare Order against the Inquisition, moving an army across a campaign map, eliminating enemy footholds and preparing for sieges. Once forces are deployed, their combinations and abilities determine how battles unfold. Finding the right synergy between fighters and spells is central to the game’s tactical appeal.
Rebuild what was lost
Success is not just about winning a single encounter. Resources can be invested in buildings, new recruits and upgrades, rebuilding the Order’s strength between confrontations. The looming threat is a sequence of powerful Inquisition lords, turning preparation into an essential part of survival.
Three years of solo development
The developer’s recent announcement reflects more than three years spent building the game, a reminder of how much work can sit behind an indie release. The official Steam page also highlights illustrated fighters, a first-person temple setting and a campaign designed for repeated attempts.
Release date and demo
A free demo is available. The full game is currently listed for Q1 2027; the developer has separately announced 10 February, which falls within that window.
