A famous Japanese folktale gets a colourful puzzle-RPG interpretation in Momotaro and the Oni Island, where matching elemental orbs is the key to fighting towards the Oni King’s castle.

A folktale told through puzzles

Momotaro sets out with companions to defeat the Oni King. Battles centre on matching orbs, building attacks and exploiting a Fire, Water and Plant system in which each element has strengths and weaknesses.

Choices beyond the board

The journey branches across Oni Island. Players choose routes, collect resources, upgrade their abilities and work with companions who bring different strengths to combat. It is a mix of puzzle solving and party-building rather than a straightforward match-three score chase.

Nigiri Games introduced the project directly to Coloured Static Press. The Steam demo has been available since August 2026, while the full game’s release remains listed as Coming soon. The developer’s own itch.io page also hosts a browser-based version.
