Indie Discovery Desk | Coloured Static Press

Six years of solo development have gone into Spirit of Diwata, according to its creator, who reached out directly to Coloured Static Press with a late submission. Instead of asking players to defeat the creatures they encounter, this cooperative action RPG is built around helping them recover.
A different kind of encounter
The official Steam description presents an Asian-inspired fantasy world shaped by traditions of care and offering. Players use elemental spirit instruments to soothe creatures, learn their behaviours and form bonds. Those bonds can then support the party on its travels. It’s a striking inversion of the familiar monster-battling formula: progress comes through care rather than conquest.
Designed to bring people together
Up to three players can take part through local or online cooperative play. Shared harmony powers stronger healing actions, while elemental relationships create opportunities for environmental puzzles. The developer also emphasises approachable controls intended to make the experience welcoming across generations.
A solo developer’s long journey
In a direct reply to Coloured Static Press, yindee games said Spirit of Diwata has been developed solo for six years. That commitment is part of the story behind this project, although the game’s full scope and quality can only be judged through play. Steam currently lists a free demo and a planned Q4 2027 release.
Our take
The promise of a cooperative RPG built on healing, harmony and creature friendship makes Spirit of Diwata one to follow. We have not yet played the demo; this discovery feature is based on the developer’s submission and the official Steam information.
